The Hope: 2021 Limited Edition Pink Ribbon Pin

Introducing The Hope, the 2021 Limited Edition Pink Ribbon Pin. My goal was to create a classic, timeless piece that will look just as fabulous paired with a casual outfit as it will with elegant evening attire. The sparkling elements and donation to a cause that is near and dear to my heart makes it extra special.

To create The Hope, I hand-beaded a breast cancer awareness ribbon using more than 20 different sizes and styles of Japanese glass beads and 3 Swarovski Crystal beads. The beads vary in color from cream to fuchsia pink to create a realistic shaded effect. I then outlined the ribbon with gold pearl purl to add a touch of elegance to the silhouette. A pale pink 3D sequin flower (one of my favorite elements to incorporate into my designs) balances the pin, and the tiny gold Japanese glass beads stitched into the center of the flower add an extra bit of glamour. The design is outlined with light pink sequins and trimmed with gold pearl purl and tiny gold Japanese glass beads to give it a finished look. A soft pink 100% wool felt was used for the front of the pin, and a coordinating felt in a lavender pink 100% wool adorns the back. The pin is finished with a gold Japanese pin.

As with all of my pieces, I am intentional with each element I incorporate. To start, the name Hope has a special meaning. I have always been a very hopeful person, and I consider hope to be one of the most endearing qualities a person can possess. Many years ago, I came across this quote that sums up perfectly my feelings of the importance of hope:

“[A person] can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air … but only for one second without hope.”

– Hal Lindsey

My goal is to encourage those impacted by breast cancer to always remain hopeful.

I specifically chose to incorporate each of the following design elements because of their significance:

  • A heart silhouette to symbolize love
  • A 3D sequin flower to symbolize life
  • A pink beaded ribbon to symbolize faith, courage, and strength

Within the beaded pink ribbon, I incorporated three Swarovski Crystal beads. As with all of my designs, I incorporate Swarovski Crystal beads (always in odd numbers), and the three symbolize today, tomorrow, and always – to serve as a reminder that we will continue fighting until breast cancer is a thing of the past.

All Ivyona Design Co. pieces are created using our signature details of 100% wool felt, premium sequins, Japanese glass beads, and genuine Swarovski Crystal beads.

The Hope is available in my Etsy Shop until October 31, 2021. I will be donating $5 from the sale of each pin to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to help them in their quest to #BeTheEnd.
